I’m opening for Latyrx and Blackalicious this Thursday at the Bear Tooth and there’s a pretty cool backstory. The show is a 10-year anniversary of sorts for Heather of Synapse Presents. I was there the first time around. My photos that originally accompanied that article have disappeared into the Internet ether, but I do have the gem below from Julia Vea. The dude in the aviators w. the sideburns and Quasimoto shirt? Yup, that’s me. The crowd was thin, but Lateef and Lyrics Born didn’t phone it in (shout to D-Sharp on the decks). I’m glad to see they’re still doing it – it’s a trip to think that there will be kids at the show this week that were 11 the first time they came up here.

The other day I pulled out some CDs to revisit some of the tunes. It’s hard to tell from the photo, but the Muzappers Remix EP is autographed by Lateef and LB.

Bonus: I also have an equally embarrassing photo of my brother before a Blackalicious show at the Egan Center. (2003?)
